A Tribute to Iain Bray

Iain Bray
Club Captain 2018
It is with great shock and sadness that we have to report the recent loss of our
past Club Captain and Chairman, Iain Bray, who lost his short battle with cancer
on the 8th September.
Iain became Club Captain in 2018 and was responsible for introducing the 3R
Series, which effectively linked all of our main social competitions together to
form an Order of Merit
Iain was a member of Three Rivers for more than 30 years, and despite having
an extremely busy work and social life he loved nothing more than spending his
spare time at the club.
He represented many of the club’s teams over the years including the Curry Cup,
The Over 55s and The Seniors teams, and was a keen supporter of all our teams
during his time as Club Captain.
Iain was famous for turning up at the last minute. He would regularly be seen
trotting up to the 1st tee at 8.59 for a 9.00 tee time asking who he’d been drawn to
play with.
I’m sure that all those who knew Iain will have their own fond memories of him and his presence around the club
will be sorely missed. Everyone who knew Iain loved and revered him and his passing will be a big loss to all his
friends and family as well as all his mates at our golf club, in particular the Saturday Morning School which he
helped to establish many years ago.
His passing has shocked all of us and our sympathies and best wishes go out to his family, in particular his son
Liam.
